The lakes wider part to the south is surrounded by morainic hills that were left following the glacier recession, while the narrow northern part is enclosed by the mountains that create its fjord-shape configuration and provide a very mild Mediterranean climate.

The luminous environment, temperate climate, and flourishing vegetation - mainly olive and lemon groves, palms, cypresses, oleanders and orange trees - along with the majestic landscapes are the background to the remarkable historical and cultural remains spread all around and make this lake the most charming in Italy.

Given the intense color of its water with a marked shade of blue and matchless transparency, Lake Garda is a unique spot where visitors and guests can enjoy a holiday full of relaxation, sports, fun and the thrill of discovering new places.

Gateway to adventure: Lake Garda’s expanse of water and variety of countryside make the area a real outdoor recreation ground. Besides sailing and windsurfing that have made Lake Garda famous throughout the world, there are plenty of other adventure and sports one can do.

If you love nature and greenery, you can go on splendid excursions around the lake and plateaus, go horse riding to discover the most isolated corners of Garda, or you can relax with a game of golf. Here there are excellent schools of free climbing and perfect practice walls. Don’t miss out on some spectacular hiking in the nearby world famous Dolomites.

We 02 July - Bologna: Today we depart our hotel for the city of Bologna, where we will explore the cities Jewish history & heritage.

Bologna: The layout of Bologna's 16th century ghetto can still be precisely traced amid the narrow streets in the medieval heart of the city: here, a maze of alleys, covered bridges and small windows tells the story of a whole community forced to live in a specific area of the town by order of the Papal State beginning from 1556. In Bologna, Jews lived in the ghetto until 1569, when they were expelled for the first time. In 1586, they were allowed to come back to town and lived here again until 1593, year of their final expulsion: 900 people left Bologna and no Jewish community was allowed into town for more than two centuries. Entrances to the Jewish quarter were opened in the morning, sealed at dusk and constantly watched: one entrance was at the beginning of via de' Giudei, a second one at the intersection between via del Carro and via Zamboni, a third one in via Oberdan, where an arch looks onto vicolo Mandria. The ghetto is undoubtedly one of the most charming areas in town enlivened with artisan workshops and encircled by palaces which belonged to rich Jewish merchants and bankers.
